The upside is the quality you get for the price. This machine comes with mains adapter/2 bay battery charger, 2 batteries, original instruction manual, canvas carrying case (in good condition apart from clear plastic rain cover missing). The only downside compared with hard drives is that you need to capture audio in real time to a home computer. As this is digital recording, it's easily transferred to other media. The tapes cost around £5 for 125min and can be re-used. It was widely used by the BBC for location recording but is equally adaptable for studio use and offers great pro quality audio for anyone wanting to make films, documentaries, podcasts, demos, etc. The HHB PDR1000 PortaDAT is a portable non-timecode DAT player/recorder.
